Ehh, its yet another reason why DMC is so great. And as far as I know, Dante didn't have grissly death movies if you played on DMD mode. But alot of the movies in that game were pretty violent. I mean Dante cutting a path through a giant demon's eye only to escape from inside it, thus causing it to burst with blood like a ripe tomato. Plus he was coated in blood for the remainder of that movie. And if you have the Special Edition DMC3 Vergil's opeing movie is very bloody. I mean his hair has so much blood in it it falls over his face. And after the killing is done he sends his hand through his hair to pull it back, while drops of blood splash out.

Killing in those games was always interesting and entertaining. I loved the wooden marionettes of the original game, and I loved the demonic chess board monster of the 3rd game.
