Whenever my father wants to chat my me about this he says the same thing: its a business.
However that theory falters seriously at one part: they dont get any much more money thatn they did before.

LOL, that's the same story with Persona. The original three persona games actually made more bank than both P3 & P4.
The only difference now is that Persona has worldwide popularity. Although the sales figures still aren't quite up to the original Persona. (Which was the third or second best selling Megaten game.)

Honestly though I believe that the new found Persona love is really just an internet phenomenon, and not much more.
I never even met another Persona fan in my life. Have you?
It's no surprise really, because the series is just some random ass niche game that a bunch of so called hard core gamers latch onto in an attempt to come off as hardcore elitist gamers.
(If they were truly elitist schmucks they would've been following the persona series since 1995 as I have.)

But this new one... do you think it will depart from a another Halo clone and reach acknowledge by gamers? It wont, what a way to do business!!

I don't understand videogame businessmen either. They're rather shoot sighted, & predictable. Shigeru Miyamoto & Sega's American division from the early 90's seem to have been the only true businessmen/visionaries of the entire gaming industry.
(Every old school gamer still remembers all the badass Sega ads, & campaigns that they did from the the 90's.)

I sometimes wonder if that's why gaming is so stale these days. (Most of the American Sega division retired from the gaming indsutry, and moved on to bigger things some time during the late PSone generation.)

At least unlike new Persona, this one didnt get liked enough to gain a real fanbase, much less by a bunch of dirty japs (its not yellow skin, its the dirt)

I think there's many reasons why Persona caught on with a new fanbase.

One: the West has a shit load of Japnophiles. The original Personas flopped in the USA, because they were deemed as too Japanese. While it's true that they were very Japanese. They were about as Japanese as the Yakuza games. (Which is another series that is popular in Japan, but flops big time everywhere else in the world due to how Japanese it is.)
In other words the original Personas weren't all that Otaku related at all.
They were just games that catered to a Japanese audience. The newer ones have world wide popularity, because Otaku's (NERDS) are world wide.
Even my (former) favorite singer Tsubaki has that problem.
Her most popular song amongst gamers & animu nerds is Sea of Love.

Reason being is because the song is about a stupid ass subway nerd. *Densha Otoko*
OTAKU'S love it when YOU sing about them ,hah hah. You should've saw the sea of love vid from my other account that had over 5000 views in two months. (I got suspended in two months.) There was so much Otaku hilarity in the comments, that I was trying my hardest not to talk shit to any of them. (Sure Otakus may be retarded, but at least they're supporting her music.)

Two: the west finally got sick & tired of Squaresoft style rpgs. SO now they'll eat up any RPG regardless of how mediocre it is. So long as it feels different from the standard Square game.

Three: Most of the oldschool fans grew up, and most don't even play videogames any more. (Most of the oldschool megaten regulars I know of don't show up at videogame boards at all anymore.)
The ones who remained such as myself. Are seen as wackos who don't know what they're talking about.
It's the biggest irony of Persona fandom imo.
The message of the Persona 2 games was about the dangers of following falsely believed memes, and turning them into reality through the masses collective belief of the lies being spewed forth.

Observe, whenever you go to a megaten community. One thing I often notice is that practically everybody speaks out of their ass. Any oldschool fan would be able to tell that everybody is actually lying or making up shit as they go along.
The problem is that there are barely any oldschool fans who post on the internet anymore.
I used to think that my facts, & knowledge about the megaten franchise would be enough to disusade the masses from acting so retarded.
However knowledge never beats out numbers.
Since most of the new fans want Megaten to be some animu bullshit, then that's what it's going to be.

Only thing I can do is sit back, and laugh whenever Atlus goes bankrupt or some shit, because I honestly do believe that this new found Persona fandom is all just an internet phenomenon with no substance in real life.

Persona only seems ultra popular now, because all the American media gaming blogs & sites cover Persona information now. Persona has always had concerts, Persona has always sold cos play gear at cospa, Persona has always been in the top 3 of Japan's video gaming charts.
People just didn't know that back then, because people didn't give a fuck about Persona until P3.

This game is crap from the core, at least other clones try so mask themselves as if they have good stuff. This is, pretty much, Jurassic Park with soldiers and spaceships.

My sister said pretty much the same thing about the latest turok.
She got a chance to play Gears of War & Turok at the same time.
She said Gears was good, but not something she'd play for more than a couple of hours.
Turok was just a generic FPS to her.

One thing I want to know. How come Turok in the 360 game doesn't even look Indian? He's just some White biker reject with a mohawk.

Oh, but he's armed with a bow. So that makes him Indian.
