Speaking seriously, I do hope this sequel is an improvement over the first one. The first one was entertaining but not b-movie material; most of the movie was jokes about inmigrants with some ocassional, tame and short action scenes; Only at the final showdown the movie goes insane.

Crank High Voltage was a true exploitation movie, Machete was tame in comparison but I do hope the sequel can go further.

That's exactly what I thought too! I've never seen Crank although it's on my list of movies to see.

Anyway, I enjoyed Machete but I wasn't wowed by it. I think the concept ended up being better than the movie itself unfortunately. Thankfully the stuff in the trailer ended up in the movie but I still think there's a lot more they could have done with it. It could've gone a LOT further than it did. Hopefully this next one will rectify that. Although I must admit I think my opinion might've been a bit skewed after having loved that fake trailer so much. I trust Rodriguez (when he's not making Spy Kids retardedness) mostly and I know he can and has made plenty of highly entertaining movies. I just hope he can do that again.

I must admit Rodriguez is a strange one. He makes some awesome adult oriented films but his kids movies look like they're all terrible schlock! Why does he do that? It's not like just because it's a film primarily aimed at kids means it has to suck or anything, there's plenty of great movies "for kids" that are also highly entertaining and very good even for adults. Whatever.

Anyway, I hope this next Machete is better. I didn't dislike the first, but it just didn't like it as much as I was hoping I would. Hopefully that'll rectify itself with the next.
