Whoo, I beat the game two days ago. (Been uploading moonlight vids to youtube ever since.)
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=C346A5B543532B14
I spoke too soon. The game gets all crazy once you get to the 2nd disc.
It's exactly like Silver Case by the end of the game.
(In fact, Silver Case actually continues right where Moonlight Syndrome left off.)
Moonlight Syndrome begins & ends in Jan. 1999.
Silver Case begins shortly after Moonlight Syndrome
during Jan. 1999.
It seems that Ryo went insane after losing both Kyoko & Mika,
Rumi went along with Ryo, because she's the only other survivor of the Moonlight Syndrome.
(Yayoi is the only person from Moonlight Syndrome who is still alive.)
Tetsuguro Kusabi effectively killed off all chances for a Moonlight Syndrome sequel when he killed the last Moonlight survivors off.
Can't really blame him though.
What the hell is he supposed to think when he sees a woman walking around with a woman's severed head hidden inside a brown paper bag, lol.
I must say Moonlight Syndrome is my favorite story from Suda 51.
It has the story that I was expecting FSR to have.
(Moonlight Syndrome is some kind of twisted love story. FSR is just a government conspiracy disguised as some spiritual bullshit.)
It turns out that during the level when Mika gets kidnapped &
Yayoi introduces Ryo to the Silver haired kid.
(The kid's name is Mitra btw. He doesn't tell you his name until he grants Mika the power to hear people's thoughts.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mWAfj4NBwg
What actually happened is that the kid presented Ryo an ultimatum or a contract that would extend Mika's life & ensure her safety.
Ryo consents to the contract, because Mika reminds him of his dead sister.
(Mika was the only other person who Ryo was close with.)
However the contract is automatically nullified once Ryo or Mika make physical contact with each other.
(In other words. Ryo is forbidden to get intimate with Mika & vice versa.)
The deal was made, because Mika actually died during the time she was kidnapped, but Yayoi did something to delay the inevitable.
(I have no idea wtf she did.)
For the rest of the game you play as Mika.
(Who has no idea that she has a death contract signed in her name.)
Mika often wonders why Ryo got distant all of a sudden.
Mika & her friends went to investigate an apartment complex where everybody kept committing suicide by jumping off the top of the roof.
Alisa (Mika's friend.)

Note: These eyes represent the children of this apartment complex.
Mika meets a girl named Riru. (She is not the same Riru from Silver Case. That Riru died 20 something yrs. ago.)
They drink tea with each other.

Riru is confronted by Chisato who is the older sister of Yayoi.
(Chisato is 18. Yayoi's age is never verified.)
The Moonlight Syndrome is basically just a gauge that influences the human mind's murderous intent based off of the phases of the moon.
The night of a Crescent moon is when strange behaviour occurs.
However a full moon typically results in a loss of sanity.
The night with Riru was during a full moon.
Practically all the children from that apartment complex jumped to their deaths.
Note:
If you notice, practically all the moon phases in Killer 7 were full moons. Which would also hint as to why that game was so retardedly crazy.
Chisato Itsushima
(The older sister of Yayoi.) tries to reason with Riru, but Riru felt content with her decision & jumped off the roof.
(Falling on top of a guy & kiilling him upon the impact, LOL!)
The Itsushima sisters have ESP like powers for some reason.

Don't ask me why.
It turns out that Yayoi is actually the Toriko/Harman Smith of Moonlight Syndrome & you're not supposed to understand everything about her.
Chisato is opposed to Mitra whereas Yayoi is affiliated with that lil' kid.
In the next chapter.
We're treated to a level that seems to be the prototype for Flower, Sun & Rain.
Mika & Yukari go out to party with each other at a rave.
Mika decided to sleep for a bit.
What happens next is that she keeps waking up inside a dream, within a dream, in a dream.
Until it gets extremely confusing to distinguish between reality & actuality.
The part that I uploaded is the end of the dream.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmgE8himhrs
Mitra shoots her dead like Sundance did with Sumio Mondo.
Since this was just a dream, Mika didn't actually die.
Yet...............
In the next level. Mika & Alisa meet up with each other to go shopping at Shimokira.
However the bullet train that they took wasn't actually going to Shimokira at all.

The train ride goes on forever & ever, until both Mika & Alisa fall asleep.
(Her name is Arisa, but I spell it as Alsia, because that's how it's pronounced.)
The game continues on until Mika is awakened by Mitra.
Mitra gives Mika the power to hear people's hearts, thoughts & desires.
I fucking hate this level, because you spend the entire level walking though out the entire bullet train listening to people's thoughts.
(You can't skip them either.)
The level goes on & on until you get to end of the bullet train.
Where Ryo can be seen fast asleep.
Mitra gave Mika & Ryo to each other.
(Mitra took Ryo's consciousness, so Mika gave Mitra her own.
In order to trade places with Ryo.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2N1Cuwr0DA
When Ryo sees Mika in a near comatose, pupiless state.
He tries to slap her out of it, but Ryo ends up fucking the hell out of her instead, lol. (I'm guessing that Mitra enforced Ryo's own repressed emotions for Mika against him.)
Ryo broke the contract once he tried to slap Mika back to consciousness..
The contract to extend Mika's life with Mitra was nullified.
when Ryo & Mika made physical contact with each other.
As a result of that Mitra took possession of Mika, and she disappeared without a trace.
Save for her puri kura's, & her Lupin the 3rd keychains.

Soon after Mika went missing as a result of that.
Mika's friends, Yukari, Chisato & Alisa went searching for Mika's current whereabouts from inside the school.
The reason is because of all the school girl related deaths that have been occurring recently.

Part 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPhttEGUo6w
Do you remember all those naked organless women in Curtis Blackburn's mansion?
Or Harman Smith being stuffed inside a refrigerator?
In Moonlight Syndrome you actually see jars full of organs & pieces of school girl meat stuffed inside a refrigerator.
One of the girls was actually cut up & sewn back together.
Part 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_o7CidgTbs
You know what else? The murderer was actually the principal.
Unfortunately for him it was the night of a full moon.
Yukari & the gang ponder if the principal also made a deal with Mitra.
EPILOGUE
(Practically the whole cast gets killed off in this chapter. Much like Silver Case & Killer 7.)
The school was closed down shortly after the principal died, and Mika Kishi is still nowhere to be found.
Yukari, Chisato, & Alisa gathered at the school during the night of a full moon.
Their intuition told them that Mitra (The Silver haired kid.) will be at the school that night.
They believe that they will have to kill Mitra in order to get Mika back.
Ryo is slowly walking toward the school.
His intent is also to get Mika back...
Final level part 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubFccEI0LZM
Alisa confronted Mitra, and was killed by him.
Final level PART 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AidEbcsIMzg
Yukari waits at the 1st floor.
What eventually came was Mitra himself.
Chisato, who has ESP.
Runs as quickly as she can to get to Chisato before Mitra does, but she's too late.

Final level Part 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwc2KSi0mHc
Ryo arrives at the school.
What greeted him was Yukari's brutally mutilated body & Yayoi Itsushima.
Ryo proceeds to the 5th floor where Mitra is at.
Surprisingly enough...
Chisato Itsushima still has some life left, and re manifests herself in a corporeal spirit form.
(You can actually see through her.)
She meets Ryo at the top of the school.
They both pass by Alisa's dead body.
Laughter can be heard in the distance.
It's Mitra.
Chisato tries once again, but is killed for good this time.
Ryo Kazan is than left alone to confront Mitra.
The boy who made him agree to a pact that would extend Mika's life span.
So long as Ryo kept his distance from her.
Mitra took Mika's life. (body & soul)
When that pact was disobeyed.
Final level Part 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY--tVVYmPc
Ryo commands Mitra to return Mika Kishi.
Ryo eventually cuts down Ryo piece by piece.
Mitra warns Ryo that if he (Mitra) were to die.
That Mika will also die along with him.
Ryo kills Mitra
This is Mika Kishi (The main character). She died when Mitra died.
& than speaks to his dead sister (Kyoko Kazan) one last time.

We later see Yayoi on top of the roof of the school pitying Mitra. Saying that she's sorry or some bullshit.
(Mitra is on the ground with a katana stuck straight through him.)
Final
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDwVMvqpOg4
Ryo Kazan is seen running & walking across a valley.
He eventually runs into Mika Kishi.
The two of them hug each other affectionately.
After the credits roll.
We are taken back into Ryo's room.
Rumi is shocked to see Ryo laying there lifeless.
Ryo is clutching on to a paper bag containing the severed head of his sister Kyoko Kazan.
Rumi looks at the tv screen & sees Mika Kishi trapped inside.
Originally this ending once said to be continued, but for some reason in my game it just says "Thanks for playing"
(The original version of Moonlight Syndrome used to have blood as well.)
Moonlight Syndrome is directly continued through the case called "Lunatics" in the Silver Case.
Ryo Kazan went on a killing spree & was tracked down to an abandoned factory called Cauliflower.
Rumi Touba is his accomplice.
Rumi carries Kyoko's head for him.
They both get shot to death by Tetsugoro Kusabi.
One of the main characters from the Silver Case.
END
----------
Overall the writing style used in Moonlight Syndrome was bit more straight forward than his other games such as FSR & K7.
IMO, I kinda like Suda more this way.
I heard that Suda formed GHM, because he was dissatisfied with the limitations imposed on him with Moonlight Syndrome.
http://www.inside-games.jp/news/208/20898.html
However I think Suda 51 makes more of an emotional impact when his story direction is more focused & less chaotic (Like K7) or less satirical (like NMH)
I hope he uses this same exact writing style for that Fatal Frame sequel that GHM is in charge off.
I just wonder how he'll pull it off though.
Twilight Syndrome was a series that revolved ghosts & the supernatural.
Moonlight Syndrome's horror came from the depths of the human mind, & the crazy ass shit that we're capable of.
Moonlight & Silver Case are pure psycho horror.
If Suda does decide to pursue a psycho horror angle with Fatal Frame.
I just wonder how he'll do it.
Considering that Fatal Frame wouldn't be Fatal Frame without the damn ghosts.
P.S.
Kitano, I'll answer your question about Sumio with my next post.
I just need to rewrite my former posts in this thread first.
I shouldn't have wrote about the story before beating the game, because it turned out that nearly all of my assumptions were wrong, lol.
